NaNoWriMo Approaches!

Well, I'm going for a 50K+ word first draft of an historical fiction set in Germany during the early to middle seventeenth century. Background for much of it is the Thirty Years War (1618-48), which was a horrible and destructive period there. Main character is a young Protestant (Lutheran) who joins one of the Protestant armies to fight against the Catholics (Bavarians, Spanish and Austrians). Things get a bit more complex than that along the way, and we follow his physical, emotional and spiritual journey.
For a change I have plotted this one scene by scene (although I am likely to change bits as I go), and started work on character sketches, as well as locations. Lots of background reading going on for this fascinating but complex and confusing period.
As some may have noticed, I've now done two previous NaNo's which have not particularly progressed beyond first draft, but they have been great experiences (plus I do plan to use them at some point). This one is:
